Jacob Vanneste is a Brussels-based musician, born in 1990. In 2013, he finished his Masters degree in Music in Percussion Performance, Cum Laude, at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels under Bart Quartier and Gert François. He also studied audiovisual composition in Granada, Spain under Pedro Guajardo.
The greater part of his artistic work is comprised of interpretation of contemporary repertoire (solo or ensemble), writing own electronic music and making sound installations. Jacob always tries to search for music that reflect parts of society, history, politics or philosophy.
Furthermore, he has side projects with a duo Two Envelopes (percussion and harpsichord) and is very interested in early music. For the latter, he has followed many classes with Pedro Estevan (Jordi Savall).
Other important masterclasses he has participated in have been with Nancy Zeltsman (marimba), Ruben Dantas (cajón), Shabani Jabili (East-African percussion), Martin Gort (latin percussion), and Paul Dombrecht (early music).
With his degree in pedagogy, he teaches percussion in several Belgian music academies and gives workshops about soundscaping and percussion. He is also Museum guide in the Musical Instruments Museum in Brussels.
Jacob also gave a masterclass about electronic and audiovisual music in the Conservatory of Granada.
